Create a beautiful botanical serving platter you’ll be proud to use at home.
Spend a relaxed Saturday morning at Claymates Studio making a generous hand-built serving platter, using fresh flowers and foliage to press texture and pattern into the clay.
We’ll begin by experimenting with different botanicals on a practice piece of clay, so you can see how different flowers, leaves and stems translate before deciding on the composition for your platter.
I’ll then guide you through building your platter and, importantly, taking the time to refine and finish it properly. The focus of this workshop isn’t on making as many things as possible, but on making one beautiful, functional piece that you’ll genuinely want to use.
We’ll pause during the morning for morning tea from WildFlora, served in the studio gallery.
After the workshop, your platter stays with me in the studio. Once completely dry, it will be bisque fired before I finish it by hand with a copper wash to bring out the botanical impressions, followed by a clear glaze and a second firing.
Your finished platter will be ready in time to take its place on your Christmas and summer table.
Each piece is carefully finished and fired in our studio, creating a functional object designed to be used, kept, and cherished.
