Turn The Piece You’ve Been Dreaming About Into Something Real—Made By You

Have a screenshot saved for “one day”? A vase you admired in a café? A mug you found on Pinterest? Bring your inspiration image to our Margaret River ceramics studio and we’ll guide you step by step to create your own handmade ceramic version. This beginner-friendly ceramics class is designed to help you slow down, work with your hands, and translate an idea into a functional piece you’ll be proud to use and keep.

This is a private 1:1 session designed specifically for you. Your time, your date, your ideas.

What This Workshop Is About:

This workshop is about interpreting inspiration, not copying it.

Rather than following a fixed project, you’ll arrive with an image or idea and learn how to translate it into clay using hand-building techniques. Together, we’ll break your reference down into achievable steps—form, scale, structure, and surface—so you can make something beautiful within a relaxed, supportive studio environment.

Instagram and Pinterest often make ceramics look effortless. In reality, every finished piece is the result of thoughtful decisions, patience, and practical skills. This class gives you insight into that process, without pressure or overwhelm.

 What You’ll Learn:

  • Beginner-friendly hand-building techniques (no wheel required)
  • How to translate a reference image into a functional ceramic form
  • Shaping, refining, and strengthening your piece
  • Adding texture, surface detail, and personality
  • Choosing glazes that complement your design

What You’ll Make:

This workshop is best suited to simple tableware or vase forms, such as:

  • Cups and mugs
  • Bowls and small plates
  • Ring dishes
  • Simple vases

Your finished piece will be carefully finished, glazed, and fired in our studio, resulting in a functional ceramic object designed to be used, kept, and enjoyed.

A Note on Inspiration & Complexity:

Making ceramics is trickier than it often looks online. Social media clips can hide hours of work— and years of experience—behind a 30-second video.

If your inspiration involves anything more complex than simple tableware or vases, we recommend emailing your images or Pinterest links before booking. We’re always happy to talk through what’s achievable within the workshop time, or suggest a private session if your idea needs more support.

We love a creative challenge—and we want to make sure you have the best possible experience.

  • Complete beginners curious about ceramics
